Another day, another umpiring controversy: At Orleans, the umpire called Max Rossiter’s game-tying and possibly game-winning grounder down the left-field line foul. Rossiter’s struck out on the next pitch to end the game.
The Orleans third-base coach used his foot to draw a circle around the spot where the ball landed directly on the chalk line, about 20 feet behind third base.
On another subject, does anybody know why Chatham released Pinder?
I talked to Chatham’s photographer recently, and he said the Anglers lost 3 players, including Pinder, due to injury.
Thanks, Joseph. Chatham’s best hitter, Knapp, was out of the lineup again last night, as was Austin Wilson for Harwich, and Phil Ervin left the game. I wonder if they too might be injured.
Also King has missed the last couple games for Falmouth.

Ervin has something wrong with his right hand. I’m told it has something to do with the vibration from wooden bats. He’s hoping to be good to go by the ASG. Austin Wilson done; leaving the Cape tomorrow.
